Troubleshooting
Start here when something isn’t working as expected.
“Chatbot is not configured yet.”
The plugin has no API key. Go to Settings → Connection, paste your key, save, and click Test the connection. Check the whole key was copied, with no spaces at either end.
The connection test fails
- Make sure the key still exists in your dashboard; deleted keys stop working immediately.
- Check the key’s website address matches the site you installed it on, including
wwwor nowww. - If you set Allowed server IPs on the key, check they are your web server’s addresses, or clear the field.
- On a staging copy, see Development copies.
The chat button doesn’t appear
- Check Show the chat button on every page is ticked under General, or add the shortcode.
- Check Who sees the chat: if it’s limited to roles, logged-out visitors won’t see it.
- Clear any page cache (caching plugin, host or CDN) after changing settings.
It can’t find content that’s on my site
- Check the content type is ticked under Content, and that the page is published, not private or password-protected.
- If the detail lives in a custom field, share the field in the Fields card.
- If a security plugin blocks the WordPress REST API for visitors, the chatbot can’t read the site. Allow public read access to your published content.
- Look at the conversation under Conversations to see which sources it used.
PDFs aren’t being read
See Documents and PDFs: check the three Documents boxes, use Read PDFs now, and remember scans without a text layer can’t be read.
Visitors see “busy, please try again later”
Your monthly replies are used up. Your dashboard shows when they reset; you can upgrade to Growth or Pro to lift the limit. See Replies and usage limits.
