Quick start: add GoChatterBot to WordPress
Five steps from a new account to a chatbot answering on your site. Most people finish in a few minutes.
Before you start
You need a WordPress website running WordPress 6.0 or later and PHP 7.4 or later, and permission to install plugins on it (an Administrator account).
The five steps
Create your free account
On the Get Started page enter your name, e-mail and website, then open the link we e-mail you and choose a password. More about signing up.
Create an API key
In your dashboard click Create New Key and enter your website’s address. Copy the key: it is shown only once. More about API keys.
Install the plugin
Click Download Plugin in your dashboard, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, upload the zip and activate it. Installation details.
Connect it
Go to GoChatterBot → Settings → Connection, paste your key, click Save changes, then Test the connection. Connecting the plugin.
Make it yours
Set the chatbot’s name, welcome message and suggested questions under General, pick what it reads under Content, and match your colors under Appearance.
Tip: open your site in a private browser window and ask the chatbot a question you know your site answers. You’ll see the answer, the source links, and the conversation will appear under GoChatterBot → Conversations.
