Content settings: what the chatbot reads
The Content tab decides what the chatbot can search and read on your site.
Content types
Tick the content types the chatbot may read: pages, posts, and custom post types from your theme or other plugins such as events, locations or products. Only published content is read. With nothing ticked, every public content type is read.
A content type appears here only if WordPress shares it publicly. Drafts, private posts and password-protected pages are never read.
Documents
Read documents in the Media Library lets answers come from files you’ve uploaded. Documents only, not photos and other images skips pictures. Read the text inside PDFs reads each PDF’s contents. See Documents and PDFs for details.
Search
- Let searches match the fields below and PDF text
- Searches look inside the fields you choose and PDF text, not only titles and page text.
- Include category and tag names with each result
- Gives the chatbot the categories and tags of each result, which helps with questions like “events for kids”.
- Other field names
- An older, comma-separated way to mention field names. The Fields card below replaces it.
Fields
Many sites keep important details in custom fields: event dates, prices, opening hours, speaker names. The Fields card lists each content type with the fields it uses.
- Tick a field to share it with the chatbot.
- Type a friendlier label so answers read naturally, for example “Start date” instead of
_event_start. - For content with a date field, choose Upcoming first, by … so the next event comes first. Dates that have already passed are marked as past.
Tip: share only fields that help answer questions. Internal codes and IDs just add noise.
